L.     Evidence of Technical Accomplishments

·      MAQSIP: While working at MCNC, Dr. Odman was a primary developer of the Multiscale Air Quality SImulation Platform (MAQSIP). MAQSIP is the air quality component of an advanced decision support framework (the Environmental Decision Support System, EDSS) developed at MCNC under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL), to assist both scientists and environmental policy-makers. MAQSIP is a fully modularized three-dimensional system with various options for representing the physical and chemical processes describing regional- and urban-scale atmospheric pollution (http://www.emc.mcnc.org/products/maqsip).

·       URM: While a student at Carnegie Mellon University and, later, while at Georgia Tech, Dr. Odman was a primary developer of the Urban to Regional Multiscale (URM) model. URM is a multiscale, multipollutant (ozone, PM, and acid deposition) air quality model with unique features such as flexible grids and direct sensitivity analysis. URM is being used as a research tool at Georgia Tech as well as other institutions including academia and industry both in the U.S. and abroad.
