		Welcome to the Laboratory for Smart Structural Systems at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Our mission is to explore and disseminate advanced smart structural technologies for the monitoring and protection of civil infrastructure systems, such as buildings, bridges, tunnels, dams, and others. The safety and reliability of infrastructure systems are essential for human societies, while the condition of these systems may deteriorate rapidly due to material aging, improper usage, harsh environment, and damages resulting from natural or man-made hazards. Maintaining the safety and reliability of the infrastructure systems is an extremely important task. The task appears to be highly challenging as well, because of the large scale and high complexity of typical infrastructure systems. We are dedicated in exploring state-of-the-art sensing, control, and information technologies for the development of future smart structural systems.
